The “Mini 50th anniversary” celebrations started off by the Mighty Mini Club with a Sunday Drive and Wheel Chair Donation.

Over 40 Minis participated in this
project.
The Mighty Mini Club Sunday drive was towards Ja-ela on the 26th
April 09. Ten minis drove off from
A Mini 50th
anniversary special
sticker was pasted on all mini’s attending the event. The sticker was
with the
complements of our fellow member Dirk Forbs.
There after all the minis drove
off to Mighty
Mini member Dinitha Edirisinghe’s residence in Kandana for grand
breakfast for
all participants the minis proceeded towards Minuwangoda via ja-ela. To
make
the donation of a wheel chair to Upul Sanjeewa who has been paralyzed
for the
past 15yers, after falling off a tree. He is 30 years of age now
& he lives
with his parents. How ever the parents could not afford to buy Upul a
good
wheel chair as the day to day cost of living is also a big challenge!
With the Mighty Mini Club CSR
wheel chair
project going great guns this year one of our members made a request
for the
committee for us to donate one to Upul Sanjeewa.as he was a needy
person. As always
the generosity & the might of
our members can be highly appreciated as the club managed to get a full
sponsorship
for the wheelchair from member
Mr.
Sisira Gunasakera & his family.
In addition over Rs5,000 was
collected in
a hat collection that day to buy groceries for Upul
& family.
The appreciation &
thankfulness was
expressed by Upul & his parents by the tears in there eyes as
they were
lost for words when receiving the wheelchair & groceries.
This wheel chair was the 6th
one that the club has donated for this year & the intention is
to continue
with the project to give out as much as possible.
From Minuwangoda the
Minis drove off
to Mighty Mini member Lasanta Gunasakera’s residence
for a refreshments , sumptuous lunch
& fellowship.
